Mission
The mission of the PHSU School of Dental Medicine is to train culturally competent, excellence-driven, and ethical dental professionals who are well-prepared to provide compassionate and high-quality dental care, particularly to underserved communities. To achieve this, the School is dedicated to an integrative curriculum that emphasizes four key areas: teaching, research, patient care, and service. Our focus on the development, dissemination, and practical application of knowledge supports the enhancement of both oral health and overall well-being.
Accreditations
The Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) program is accredited and has been granted the accreditation status of “initial accreditation” by the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Public Notice of Upcoming Reaccreditation Visit by CODA
Ponce Health Sciences University School of Dental Medicine wishes to announce that
it will host a site visit by the Commission on Dental Accreditation from April 21–23,
2026, as part of the process for continuing accreditation of its Doctor of Dental
Medicine program at the Ponce campus.
As part of this process, CODA invites third-party comments concerning the DMD program.
You are invited to submit written comments via email directly to the appropriate CODA
staff.
