Each location provides unique opportunities for financial assistance tailored to the needs of its current and new students. Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU) is committed to supporting students in achieving their educational goals by offering a range of scholarships to help offset the cost of tuition and fees. These scholarships are designed to recognize academic excellence, support financial need, and encourage professional growth across a variety of disciplines. Whether you are beginning your journey at PHSU or continuing your studies, these scholarship opportunities help reduce financial barriers, allowing students to focus on achieving their educational and career goals.

Puerto Rico–Campuses Scholarships

PHSU’s Puerto Rico Main Campus offers dedicated scholarship opportunities to support students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. With a focus on empowering future nursing professionals, these scholarships provide meaningful financial assistance, enabling students to concentrate on their studies and career goals. PHSU is committed to fostering the success of BSN students and encouraging their contributions to the healthcare field in Puerto Rico.

Institutional Scholarships for New Students

BSN Puerto Rico Financial Opportunity Scholarship

This scholarship is available to new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students with a high school GPA of 3.40 or higher who demonstrate financial need based on the FAFSA. Recipients may receive up to 20% off tuition and fees per quarter. Eligibility is determined by the Admissions Office and validated by the Financial Aid Office. Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to continue receiving this scholarship. For more details, contact the Admissions Office.

ASSUR Foundation Scholarship Program

In partnership with PHSU, this scholarship is available to first-year BSN students in San Juan and Ponce enrolled in at least 12 semester credits with a minimum GPA of 3.00. Applicants must demonstrate financial need through FAFSA and submit a statement of intent to practice nursing in Puerto Rico upon graduation. Recipients must maintain a 3.00 GPA and demonstrate continued financial need to remain eligible. ASSUR offers full-tuition scholarships to three BSN students annually. Top Educational Option Relocation Scholarship

This scholarship provides up to $1,500 to assist with relocation expenses for up to 50 new non-resident (Puerto Rico) students who enroll early and meet all admissions requirements. Awards are based on fund availability. The Admissions Office will identify the eligible candidates to receive the award, no application necessary.

Deans Achievement Award

Offered to three new students with a GPA of 3.40 or higher, this award provides up to $3,000. Financial need, as determined by the FAFSA, is also considered. Students must apply to be considered for the scholarship.

Away Rotations Boarding Scholarship

The Away Rotations Boarding Scholarship is offered to fourth-year PHSU Ponce School of Medicine students who have been accepted into away rotations with Wyckoff, Christiana Health, Northwell, or any other institution with a long-term affiliation with PHSU-SOM.

Fourth-year students from the Doctor of Medicine Program
• Must be accepted into an away rotation from Wyckoff, Cristiana Health, Northwell, or any other institution with a long-term affiliation with PHSU.
• Must have an endorsement of the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs.
• Must submit a letter of acceptance into the Away Rotation
• Must be in compliance with the satisfactory academic progress policy of the program.
• Rotations with a research component are offered preference.

The award is up to $5,000 per academic year, distributed in either the Fall or Spring semester. This scholarship cannot exceed the student’s current cost of attendance and may require a reduction in loans to qualify.

School of Medicine Scholastic Achievement Award

The School of Medicine Scholastic Achievement Scholarship is offered to students ranking within the top 25% of their class, by campus. This scholarship recognizes academic achievement and consistent progress in the Doctor of Medicine Program.

Students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards and demonstrate financial need, as determined by the 2026-2027 FAFSA form.
• To be considered financially needy, the student’s Student Aid Index (SAI) must not exceed $10,000.
• Eligible students are those in the 25th percentile of the class, in compliance with SAP, and in the regular time of the program.
• Evidence of participation in research activities (e.g. paper presentations, poster presentations, publications, among others)
 
Eligible students receive notification from the Financial Aid Office to complete an attestation and short information form.
 
This scholarship does not automatically renew. Each year, the Financial Aid Office identifies the eligible students, including those with continuous awards. Awards are determined based on the availability of funds.
 
The award is up to $8,000 each Academic Year. The awarded amount is distributed equally per term (in the Fall and Spring semesters).
 
This scholarship cannot exceed the student’s current cost of attendance and may require a reduction in loans to qualify.
 

MSMS to MD Achievement and Perseverance Scholarship

The MSMS to MD Achievement and Perseverance Scholarship is awarded to Doctor of Medicine students who were enrolled in the Master of Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) program in the Academic Year prior to their acceptance into the medical program.

Newly Admitted Students
• Achieved a general raw MSMS score at graduation higher than 75%, with a minimum of 70% raw score per course.
• Being accepted into the Doctor of Medicine program in the Ponce or St. Louis Campus.
• Present a Student Aid Index (SAI) of a maximum of $10,000.
• Compliance with the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy in each term.
• Evidence of participation in research activities (e.g. paper presentations, poster presentations, publications, among others)
Continuing Student Eligibility Criteria
• Compliance with the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (e.g., no failed courses, no additional time for graduation).
• No interruptions in enrollment (e.g., gap years).
• No conduct or unprofessionalism cases reported in the student’s file.
• Evidence of participation in research activities (e.g. paper presentations, poster presentations, publications, among others)
Eligible students receive notification from the Financial Aid Office to complete an attestation and short information form.
 
This scholarship does not automatically renew. Each year, the Financial Aid Office identifies the eligible students, including those with continuous awards. Awards are determined based on the availability of funds.
The scholarship offers a total annual award of $9,500, distributed in equal amounts in the two semesters of the Academic Year ($4,250 each semester).
 
This scholarship cannot exceed the student’s current cost of attendance and may require a reduction in loans to qualify or retain eligibility.
 
The scholarship will be awarded to a maximum of 10 students in MS1. Continuation for subsequent years will depend on students’ progress in the program and maintenance of eligibility.
 

St. Louis–Branch Campus Scholarships

PHSU’s St. Louis offers dedicated scholarship opportunities to support students pursuing the new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. By investing in future nurses, PHSU reaffirms its dedication to student achievement and to strengthening tthe healthcare workforce.

Institutional Scholarships for New Students

BSN St. Louis Inaugural Year Scholarship

Students accepted in the inaugural year of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the St. Louis campus (Spring 2026 and Fall 2026) may be eligible to receive a scholarship award of up to $5,000.

To qualify, students must enroll full-time in the February 2026 or July 2026 BSN cohorts at the St. Louis campus. Continued eligibility is contingent upon maintaining continuous full-time enrollment and meeting satisfactory academic progress standards as defined by university policy.

No separate application is required. All accepted students in the inaugural cohort will be automatically considered and awarded the scholarship, subject to the outlined terms.

Scholarship funds will be applied directly to tuition and mandatory institutional fees. They are not redeemable for cash, may not be used for non-institutional expenses, and cannot be transferred or deferred.

This offer is valid only for students beginning the BSN program in February 2026 or July 2026 and may not be applied to other start terms or campus locations.

The university reserves the right to amend or discontinue this scholarship at any time, provided such changes do not affect awards already granted to eligible students.

  • Total Award Amount: Up to $5,000 per student

BSN St. Louis Need Based Scholarship

PHSU-St. Louis offers need-based scholarships to assist aspiring nuring students who demonstrate financial need beyond their current resources. This scholarship aims to support students who have partially met their cost of attendance (COA) through personal or external funding but still face financial challenges. 

Financial Need Verification: 
  • The need-based assessment is done after all other forms of scholarships, grants, and funding have been applied.  
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need by providing documentation of their current financial resources and expenses related to their education. 
  • Examples include partial approval of the COA by financial institutions like Sallie Mae, evidence of personal funds insufficient to cover all educational and living expenses, or similar financial challenges. 
External Financial Resource Application: 
  • Applicants must have applied for external financial resources, such as loans, scholarships, or sponsorships, to cover their educational costs, before applying for the scholarship. 
  • Documentation of applications and outcomes (partial approval, insufficient funds, etc.) must be submitted along with the scholarship application. 
Non-Resident Status and Private Funds: 
  • Preference may be given to non-resident students who rely solely on private funds to finance their education and living expenses. 
Academic Performance: 
  • Applicants must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress as defined by the BSN program's academic policies. 
The student must submit the application, including supporting documents:  
  • Financial documentation showing current resources and expenses. 
  • Copies of external financial aid application outcomes. 
Essay or Statement: 
  • A personal statement outlining the applicant's financial situation, challenges faced, and how the scholarship would impact their ability to pursue medical education. 
Review and Decision: 
  • The Financial Services Director will review applications based on financial need, compliance with external resource applications, and academic merit. 
  • Finalists may be invited for an interview or additional documentation as required. 
  • The scholarship amount will vary based on individual financial need and available funds. 
  • Recipients may be eligible for renewal based on continued financial need and academic performance. Renewal will be yearly.  

MSMS St. Louis Need Based Scholarship

PsyD Academic Excellence Scholarship

This scholarship is a highly competitive merit-based award designed to recognize outstanding academic achievement and professional promise in applicants to the PHSU St. Louis PsyD program. This scholarship supports exceptional doctoral candidates who demonstrate strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale, clear professional goals, and a commitment to the field of clinical psychology. 

Students must demonstrate

All eligible applicants to the PHSU St. Louis PsyD program are automatically considered for the PsyD Academic Excellence Scholarship as part of the admissions review process. This scholarship is awarded only to new, incoming students and is not available to currently enrolled students. 
  • Selected recipients may receive up to $25,000 in tuition support, distributed across 5 years of the program based on continued academic and professional standing.
  • Annual Maximum Award Limits:
    • Year 1 - Up to $6,500
    • Year 2 - Up to $6,500
    • Year 3 - Up to $5,500
    • Year 4 - Up to $4,000
    • Year 5 - Up to $2,500
  • Awards are limited and selective, with a maximum number of recipients determined each academic year. For the 2026–2027 academic year, the St. Louis PsyD program will award a limited number of Academic Excellence Scholarships to outstanding incoming students, with up to 7 awards available.

Top Educational Option Relocation Scholarship

Tortola, BVI–International Location Scholarships

PHSU Tortola is dedicated to providing meaningful financial support through a variety of scholarship opportunities tailored to assist students pursuing medical education. These scholarships are designed to ease the financial burden of tuition and fees, encouraging both local and international students to achieve their educational goals.  

Seasonal Scholarships

Early Enrollment Scholarship 

Up to 20 new students who enroll before December 31, 2025, can receive up to $10,000. Scholarships are awarded based on a completed enrollment agreement and seat reservation deposit, subject to meeting admissions criteria and funding availability.  

The Enrollment Agreement and the seat reservation deposit fee must have been completed on or before December 31, 2025. 

No application required.  Students will be identified by the admissions department based on the completion of the enrollment agreement and deposit fee available in the admissions file.  

 
This is a one-time scholarship, only applicable for the first year, and it is applied in equal amounts in each semester of the academic year. The maximum amount to be awarded is $10,000. Ten scholarships are available each year.

Institutional Scholarships

British Virgin Islands Resident Full Tuition Scholarship

Two full-tuition scholarships are awarded to British Virgin Islands citizens. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress to retain eligibility.  

  • Students must present evidence of permanent residence in the BVI every academic year to maintain eligibility for the scholarship. Permanent residence must be evidenced by presenting the last two years of tax forms and/or a driver’s license with at least two years since its expedition.
  • Students must comply with the Academic Satisfactory Progress of the program found in the Academic Catalog.  Students who fail courses and enter a probation status will lose eligibility for the scholarship. Interruptions to the scholarship due to failure to comply with SAP will result in permanent ineligibility. 

No application needed.  The admissions office will determine eligibility based on the information provided in the admissions application process. The scholarship will be applied on a first-come, first-served basis. 

  • Scholarship will cover the full cost of tuition and fees.  
  • Four-year scholarship dependent on Satisfactory Academic Progress 
  • Two scholarships are available each year

Puerto Rico, Missouri, United Kingdom and British Virgin Islands Resident Scholarship

Students from Puerto Rico, Missouri, United Kingdom or the British Virgin Islands who enroll in the MD Program receive up to 20% off tuition and fees per semester. A student is considered enrolled once the Enrollment Agreement has been signed and the deposit to reserve a seat has been paid. The scholarship will be applied on a first-come, first-served basis based on the eligibility requirements and the order in which students complete the requirements to be considered enrolled.    

  • Students must present evidence of permanent residence in Puerto Rico, Missouri, the United Kingdom or British Virgin Islands for at least two years before the start date to qualify as a resident. Tax forms or a driver’s license with two years or more in the issued date are required as evidence to certify eligibility for the scholarship.
  • Students must comply with the Academic Satisfactory Progress of the program.  Students who failed courses and enter a probation status will lose eligibility for the scholarship. Interruptions to the scholarship due to failure to comply with SAP will result in permanent ineligibility.
  • No application needed. Students will be identified as potential recipients by the admissions department and invited to present evidence for eligibility based on the information provided in the admissions application process
  • The scholarship is a maximum of $12,000 per year for a total of 4 years, dependent on Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  • This scholarship can be combined with the Early Enrollment Scholarship and the Tiber Health Alumni Scholarship, as long as the applicant complies with the requirements.  
  • In the case of a combination of scholarships, the Resident scholarship will be applied last and based on the remaining balance after the application of any additional scholarship
  • The Resident scholarship cannot be combined with the International Scholarship.
  • This scholarship is limited to the first 20 students who qualify.

International Scholarship

Students who hold non-US who enroll in our ACCM Medical School receive up to 20% off tuition and fees per semester. A student is considered enrolled once the Enrollment Agreement has been signed and the deposit to reserve a seat has been paid. The scholarship will be applied on a first-come, first-served basis based on the eligibility requirements and the order in which students complete the requirements to be considered enrolled.

  • Students must present evidence of citizenship of a country other than the United States. Students must confirm they do not hold US citizenship or US permanent resident status. Copy of the biographical/photo page of a current, unexpired passport are required as evidence to certify eligibility for the scholarship.
  • Students must comply with the Academic Satisfactory Progress of the program.  Students who failed courses and enter a probation status will lose eligibility for the scholarship. Interruptions to the scholarship due to failure to comply with SAP will result in permanent ineligibility.
  • No application needed. Students will be identified as potential recipients by the admissions department and invited to present evidence for eligibility based on the information provided in the admissions application process
  • The scholarship is a maximum of $12,500 per year for a total of 4 years ($50,000 max award), dependent on Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  • This scholarship can be combined with the Early Enrollment Scholarship and the Tiber Health Alumni Scholarship, as long as the applicant complies with the requirements.  
  • In the case of a combination of scholarships, the International scholarship will be applied first, Early Enrollment Scholarship next, followed by the Tiber Health Alumni scholarship which will be based on the remaining balance after the application of any additional scholarships.  
  • This scholarship cannot be combined with the Resident Scholarship.

Tiber Health Alumni Scholarship

Graduates of the MSMS program at PHSU or Tiber Health's partner schools admitted into the MD Program at PHSU-BVI receive up to 20% off tuition per semester.  This scholarship recognizes the effort of those MSMS Alumni who successfully completed their master's degree at PHSU or one its partner institutions and were accepted in the BVI Doctor in Medicine Program.   

  • Being an alumnus from the MSMS program at PHSU or Tiber Health Partner Schools. 
  • Graduated from the MSMS three years or less before the start date of the MD Program in PHSU-BVI.  
  • Recipients must comply with the Academic Satisfactory Progress of the program.  Students who failed courses and enter a probation status will lose eligibility for the scholarship. Interruptions to the scholarship due to failure to comply with SAP will result in permanent ineligibility. 
  • No application required. Students will be identified as recipients by the admissions department based on the information provided in the admissions application process. 
  • This scholarship provides a 20% discount on tuition costs per term, with a maximum award of $10,000 per year for a total of 4 years for resident students and $12,000 for non-residents, dependent on Satisfactory Academic Progress. This Scholarship will be applied in equal sums on a term basis.
  • This scholarship can be combined with the Early Enrollment Scholarship or the Puerto Rico, Missouri, UK and BVI Resident Scholarship, as long as the applicant complies with the requirements. 
  • This scholarship is limited to the first 8 students who qualify.

Need-Based Scholarship

PHSU-BVI offers need-based scholarships to assist students who demonstrate financial need beyond their current resources. This scholarship aims to support students who have partially met their cost of attendance (COA) through personal or external funding but still face financial challenges. 

Financial Need Verification: 
  • The need-based assessment is done after all other forms of scholarships, grants, and funding have been applied.  
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need by providing documentation of their current financial resources and expenses related to their education. 
  • Examples include partial approval of the COA by financial institutions like Sallie Mae, evidence of personal funds insufficient to cover all educational and living expenses, or similar financial challenges. 
External Financial Resource Application:

Scholarships for Online and Remote Programs

MSMS Financial Opportunity Scholarship
